What is the easiest way to statis field a spider mine? I read somewhere once that it was possible to statis field a spider mine... So, what I would be trying to do is have a spider mine statis field decoration, and so behind the scenes I would need to have a computer arbiter statis fielding a spider mine, each time a new one has to replace the old one (before it wears out). So what I am specifically wondering is how to get a computer arbiter to cast statis field on an (attacking?) mine.

The arbiter will not target the mine directly, but it will target units that are attacking it directly, so you'd need to have the mine standing next to these units, and it'll be caught in the AoE of the stasis cast.

What is the best way to go about having the mine in an attacking position when it gets stasised?

Frankly I wouldn't bother as the effect you're after is not going to be 100% glitch-proof.

Probably the best way to do it would be to have mine owned by P1, with a marine owned by P1, have a crackling owned by P2 run past to activate the mine and create an arbiter owned by P2 with enough energy nearby so the P1 marine aims at it, causing it to stasis the group. Of course you're going to have to come up with some way to make the marine target the arbiter in preference to the crackling. There aren't any air-only ground units outside of the turrets though.

Alright thank you very much for the information, very helpful link.

You could have the spider mine trying to attack the marine, and a powerup or another unit between them so the spider mine gets stuck as it tries to move toward the marine. Then have the marine fire at the arbiter, and it will stasis both of them.

Might need to alter that setup depending on how many computer players you have to use, but considering a blocked off spider mine will still pop out and keep trying to attack a target even if it can't actually reach them, there shouldn't be any timing issues involved.

I found an easier solution and that is that once you create a spider mine it takes a while before it goes into the ground.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
