I have been trying for the past few days to try and load a map on SC1 map editor, just a premade map like hunters so i can set all the geysers and mineral fields to 50000. But when i click file open, the folders that should be there containing the maps are not there. theres only one file thats called "my games" and its empty. Also, when i make a custom map and save it to this folder, i cannot open it and play it in the game. I don't want to have to go through battle net for this. Please Help!

What operating system do you have, Windows Vista or 7?
Have you installed Starcraft under C:\Program Files\ or something like that? Windows Vista and 7 have special protections that they apply to these folders which makes it difficult to see/edit files in there (to help prevent malware from taking over people's computers). Modern programs that are written can handle this nicely, but because Starcraft was made back in 1998 it doesn't handle the protection on these folders at all well. In particular I think Vista is a bit more obnoxious about this than 7 is.
If this is the case, I recommend uninstalling Starcraft from where you have it, and reinstalling it somewhere else, like C:\Games\Starcraft. That will likely fix your problem.
If this is NOT the case, eg you already have Starcraft installed somewhere like C:\Games\Starcraft or you're using Windows XP, then please confirm this and do not uninstall Starcraft (since you probably don't need to).

you need to navigate to where the maps are stored, which is usually c:\program files\starcraft\maps.
If you don't know how to navigate to the maps folder, then just copy and paste the path in the open dialog. And you should really learn how to use windows explorer.
