Well, I was working on my map, and wanted to add some snow, but i also like the jungle palette... How might I make a custom palette that has both? I know it's possible! I just haven't found any relevant information ANYWHERE online! :crazy:

You have to mod the tileset files to have the jungle images in the snow tileset (or vice-versa) ... it doesn't look very nice because they have different tileset-specific colors ...

If you are using this for a map, people playing your map wont be able to see the changes unless they load the mod.

Yeah I am aware that the changes require the mod, this is for a map/mod combo I'm working on - it's in the mod showcase forum under the name Domination. What program can you use to modify the tile-sets? And I have seen many people change the colors starcraft uses, so why couldn't I change the 'tile-set specific colors' to best fit my new custom tile-set?

Changing the colors can be a tricky process ... I'm not saying you will necessarily have to do that, it's just some detail is lost.

Also my tile editor is buggy and mostly broken (and unfinished) .. I think PyTile works better (but I haven't played with it a lot).

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
