Okay, I personally have absolutely no idea what the first three do. The last one supposedly fixes the freezing issue of WIndows 7.
Does anyone know what these could be? The explanation on cafe.daum.net/rpgguild were in korean.

None.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

The first one seems to enable some Windows' screenshot stuff with the print screen. Maybe that the Window's screenshot of SC won't be black. But I don't know.

The second one is the Win7 color fix for the 32bit Windows 7.

The third one is the Win7 color fix for the 64bit Windows 7.

The last one changes the ingame options. It disables the CPU throttling and the color cycling that animated the water. This will make scrolling much more smoother on Windows Vista and maybe Win 7, too. Additionally SC was randomly freezing on Win 7 (I don't know if that problem still exists) and maybe these options fixed it.

If you use the ICCUP launcher's "hack" that starts SC in a window, you don't need any of these I think because Starcraft isn't lagging anymore with that plugin somehow.

edit:
You can make it better, if you use "ddemulate" in the shortcut and use pure SCBW (no iccup window plugin thing). It will change the rendering to direct draw mode which fixes the battle.net GUI errors (no ping bars, ...) on Win Vista/7.

Anything in Microsoft\DirectDraw is not actually set by Starcraft.

"CPUThrottle" and "ColorCycle" correspond to the options that have the same name. (F10 Game Menu -> Options)

I know at least one of the freezes I got in SC was due to windows UAC popping up in the background nagging about something. It would hard-lock my computer - music would keep playing, but it was totally unresponsive to key presses or mouse clicks, only option was to hard-reboot (and with a laptop, power it off and on again).

In my case it was the annoying java updater popping up about 30-45 minutes after my computer had been turned on saying "can I have permission to install?!?!?!". I kept saying "no" whenever I saw it outside of SC 'cause it required me to shut down my browser and I was lazy. One time it popped up when I was alt-tabbed out of SC, and that's when it suddenly clicked what was happening. After getting rid of that nag screen, my freezes dramatically reduced.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
