So I have decided to invest a little bit of my free time into melee maps and, wow, making melee maps has changed a LOT from sc1. Rest assured, I know about balance and everything so im good to go.
But I have a problem with symmetry. Is there some kind of option like there was in SC1 where I could get instant symmetry? Or do I have to invest the time into making the map 100% symmetrical? Please help.

Look at the last bullet point. Basically, make half your map and then select it all and flip it.

Also http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1921697959 has a slightly different method.

I personally find Melee mapping extremely boring. There is very little in the way of what you can do that is unique, and everything just becomes a variation of a theme, on a different tile-set. Different expand locations, different destructible rock locations, different cliff patterns, different high yield locations, different island expansions etc... Very little creativity - but correct me if I'm wrong, I'd quite like to see some custom made melee maps that are good.

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface
[05:34 pm]
NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

Oops, caught me there, no I haven't. :( I was imagining how the game went. Sorry for that. Watching it now. brb

NimoStar shouted: They were not "Unprepared" that was their fifth loss in a row against the bot. The other replays are also available
that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
