Im createing a new map on scmdraft 2, and it aparently saved fine and i kept working on it. Now the next day, when i try to open my map to finish it, it will not open because an error message pops up. Is there anyway to fix this and anyway to get my map back? Iv attached the file, and i changed the 'open with' part of the file to see if it would atleast open on normal staredit, but it wouldnt.

Did you try looking through SCMDraft's backup database? Chances are you have a working version saved there somewhere.

Open SCMDraft 2, Go to Advanced -> Open Backup Database. A window should pop up. Select the name of the map you worked on at the top window and the bottom window should show past revisions. Click on the newest ones and restore each of them individually and try to open them.

Restoring a corrupt file is not really possible, unless you beg our hex editing / map compressing gurus to manually fix it.

That file is empty. It contains no data.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

It has 50 kB of zeroes?

I don't have the capability of opening it right now, but I find that hard to believe.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
