ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

As a continuation from the shoutbox comments I got from ex about this deal:
3x monitors with free 5670
vs this deal
3x monitors with $60 5770

Now I'm pretty certain these monitors are good: LED backlit, 20" 1600x900. That's the whole reason to buy them. My dad needs a new one, and my brother and wife could both use a new monitor as well (all 3 are over 6 years old now).

My current specs are:
AMD Athlon x2 4200+
Radeon x1950 Pro
AM2 motherboard (not AM2+)

I'm fairly certain that as of right now, my processor is limiting my graphics card, as when I overclock the processor, I get a whole lot more out of 3dmark05 than when I overclock the GPU or VRAM. I don't really have money to burn, so $60 is still a lot. If I get the 5770, it's obviously going to be extremely cheap for the price. However, I'm afraid that my processor will seriously limit it. I will eventually replace most of my computer, but that's not in the forseeable future. By the time I do get around to upgrading, I will assume that the geforce 500 series will be out, if not the radeon 7000 series. There's no question that the 5670 is more powerful than my current card, however the 5770 is already showing its limits in more modern games, and the 5670 would probably make a much better HTPC card due to the number of transistors.

Do you think that the 5670 will perform much worse than the 5770 with my processor, in say Oblivion?

Also, any ideas for my Mom, Aunt, Uncle, 13 y/o Cousin, Aunt, and Uncle for christmas presents?

Christmas presents!? TRIPLE MONITOR SETUP FTW!!!

On a more serious note, I got that graphics card(the 5770) and I must highly recommend it, it's running extremely cool, and has met all my needs so far.

None.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Just wondering - why aren't there any 1080x4800 or whatever monitors? Why does the cost for larger monitors rise so quickly? I'd go for the effect of one huge wide monitor, but those 3 bars on one of these setups really turn me off the idea.

More monitors give you different screens, not just a larger total screen.

Alright then, since Ex and falk seem to think the 5770 is entirely worthwhile, I think I'll get it for $60. my processor might not be enough to fully utilize it's power, but according to anandtech, oblivion is pretty freaking gpu limited. Even when the processor is way overclocked, in the difficult places, the fps doesn't change much.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
