This is my only weakness when making a sc map, I never worked with this and I am having much difficulties.
I want to try and make a godly comp that can play like it would in melee, only much smarter.

The most I can get a comp to do is mine, but that's all it will do...

Also, I want help with trying to get the comp to actually work legally, not with triggers and locations. So please don't suggest I use locations and triggers to get them to "look" like they build.

Thanks, much appreciation.

I had a problem with CPU AI cause in the PLAYERS settings in the main staredit menu it was protoss and I wanted that comp to have an zerg AI(and it actually had zerg units) and all it did was mining as you say. You must change the player in the PLAYERS menu to be the race you want, then select a location over 1 of the computers bases, call it Computer AI, then go like this:

C:
-Always
A:
-run AI at location, and choose expansion zerg/terran/protoss/ ; easy/medium/difficult/insane or any other.

Note: Insane is the hardest one, the computer cheats rescources if you use this one :-)

I'm not a big buff on the melee AI myself, but I'm pretty sure, for insane AI, you need to provide prexisting structures. I'm not 100% sure on it, but all the insane comp maps have prexisting structures. And so be that is the case, you can always have location layers to spawn structures at different points of the game, while subtracting the according cost (or not) to simulate that they're actually building.
