Even though I've found what I needed, it seems like many of the pages contain the same content, just in different order.

This reminds me of a document that SEN used to have early in v4, with all the tutorials in one big, white-backgrounded page. I guess the more things change, the more they remain the same, or something like that.

Great, thanks, that'll do for the meantime.

Question, why did we get rid of our old tutorial wiki system for...what, nothing, some bland white wiki that doesn't even have all the articles. If we were only going to transfer like 10% of the wiki, we should have just left it the way it was (unforeseen circumstances I suppose). Is there anyway this could be organized back in some orderly fashion? We're still supposed to be a SCI mapping site.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

most of the articles are still in the same format from maplantis.

The new wiki is a much better system. what we need is bored people to move stuff. However, I agree, the complete removal of a functioning oldwiki was poor judgement.

I recall there being an article, a list of quirks and oddities in the game. It isn't in this archive, nor was it moved to the SCI MediaWiki.

EDIT: Ah, it's in the oldwiki backup that retained BBCode tags without applying them.

I haven't been keeping up with the times. Where is our new SC1 wiki?

We have none. Just that exported garbage.

Woah

Some of the oldwiki articles were ported to the http://www.staredit.net/starcraft/Main_Page wiki, but there are still a lot that haven't been. Eventually, the "Wiki" link at the top will link to GalaxyWiki as our SC2 resource and http://www.staredit.net/starcraft/Main_Page as our SC1 resource.

No, but the dump seems very broken at the moment.

If you click on page 2, for example, it has almost all the same topics as page 1, but 1 extra new one at the bottom. If you click all the way through to page 16, it is almost the same as page 15.

As a result, the majority of pages from the dump are completely inaccessible, for example the 'starcraft quirks and annoyances' wiki page isn't there, and the page on making the arbiter cast recall (two I can recall off the top of my head). I'm pretty sure these were there, and it was working at the time that the dump was made.

Have you looked through http://www.staredit.net/?p=oldwiki2 as well?

That one suffers from the same pagination problem, but the pages now go up to 60, so probably more, if not all of the articles, are now available. The SC quirks and nuisances one shows up on the first page, which is useful.

In short: pagination problem still there, but this link is better than the first one.

The SC1 Wiki now has a skin.

Also, we should probably link to it in the nav; that way, people can actually find it, transfer all the oldwiki articles, and then we'll have a well-organized reference that's actually browseable.

That's the plan. I was just waiting until I saw Devourer on to change that, as I don't want to screw anything up.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

it would be nice to have a dropdown list for the wikis. I made that mistake at first when we switched to the sc2 split, and found that none of my files were on the wiki anymore (because I was in sc2wiki).

Yeah, that's basically what I meant, but I can see why that would be confusing. I think the same should be done for the databases, too.

I can't view most of the pages in the oldwiki2 dump; the SQL query times out. That dump appears to contain older versions of articles (from edit histories); it may help to remove these older copies from the dump, if such a thing can be done.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

Symmetry -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
