Hi, my name is Program@USEast (gamez) or ELEMENT@USEast (bot). It's very challenging for me to communicate without using racial slurs, as most of you who know me on the channel have found out. For the respect of this community, I'll try to refrain from posting frequently so you don't hear me being excessively rude.

Yeah, sure. And I'm not awesome in real life, either. :-|

Seriously, though, I think we all get it. I know I act way differently OTI. 'S cause [essay]OTI, you're not communicating with bodies that house minds. There is no physical notions of power or presence or authority. The Internet is just a gigantic void filled with minds, and nothing else. You're talking to people's minds, their souls, with nothing to distract you. And text? It's analogous to thought. You're bypassing the senses, forgoing sight, sound, you're not talking to someone, you're thinking to them. We, as human beings, are far more used to in-person, real-life contact -- we've adapted to thinking to each other, but it's not our native mode of communication, it's not built-in or instinctual, like real-life communication is. So of course we would go about it differently, reveal different aspects of ourselves, when thinking to each other rather than talking to each other.[/essay]

As long as your not the "I'm superior to you in every way" mixed with "NO YOU HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING I SAY" with a pinch of "That's sad kiddo"

then cool

y hallo thar

I'm Biophysicist, the resident psychotic programmer/modder/web designer (though sadly, not for SEN (Moose doesn't trust me with FTP access (even though I wouldn't do anything bad (srsly (CURSE YOU MOOSE! (Though you are awesesome :awesome: )))))). I've been known to devour souls, so be careful. (The one soul I'd refuse to devour is located here.) I'd also be careful because I cause spontaneous loss of The Game, and 'cause I'm not the most mentally stable d00d around.

Anyway. Uh. Yah. Welcome to our humble abode on the Internet, where much lulz is produced, along with the occasional map.

Greetings program. It's good to see another man roaming the halls of SEN.

Very few people aside from Bio here will be amused by posturing. Just letting you know. Anyways, welcome, hope we can help with mapmaking and all that other good stuff.

no u. (1/x)(x) = x/x. It is the exact same as a straight flat line (y = 1) except for when x = 0, that's undefined. Should of said the limit of (1/x) as it approaches 0 from the right.

Kids these days, lern2math.

I said |1/x|. That's the absolute value of 1/x. As x approaches 0 from either direction, the function value approaches infinity. Not a straight line at all.

EDIT: oic. Well, that wouldn't really work if the x outside the () meant the variable "x".. It meant "times", ofc. As in the number of times.

@Cent: posturing = ?

I'm the local guy who never swears. Seriously.

Welcome. And stay away from the SC1 Melee Mapping forum if you don't want to get yelled at by an angry Excalibur with a mighty bansword.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
[2026-6-21. : 4:26 am]
Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
