I thought I was going colorblind at first when I saw it was red and blue haha.

-Decorate the map a little, it's completely bland.
-Usually, you should leave a rush path open at the start.
-T Advantage (Small area for fighting, easy to Tank Push) (Cliffs Tankable) (CCs can float into area covered by 0 minerals)
-Mains a little small
-Some of the zero patches are unnecessary

Here we go again... Sorry if I sound a lil harsh

From smallest problem to biggest problem
  • minerals have strange placement
  • Unscoutable, and no main way for attack.
  • No room for building defenses at the bottom left expo
  • the entire middle area is tankable.
  • The entire map is too tight, making T>all
  • The terrain is boring, uninspired, and ugly.
  • The concept itself is interesting, but executed badly. This is the biggest problem. Mineral blocked terrain should not block the main road, but rather serve as a seperate, most likely shorter route, to the other's base
Since this is SC1, you have no excuse ^^

Ok, I made some minor changes, got rid of tankability, opened some expansions, and made it more apealing to the eye.

You must now provide a picture for any map posted in this section so that it may be properly commented on. No one should have to download and open your map just to have a look at it, especially if they're going to take the time to give you feedback to improve it.

Convert it to a jpg file.

-Those nats are really far from the main, and they don't cover the main too well. It should be right outside your main after the ramp.
-The concept is ruined because there is no way to scout, so the player will just probably get rid of all the minerals at the beginning of the game. If the concept is so that it takes longer to scout, then sorry. If you have one unit at one main, it should be able to go to the other side in one click on the minimap w/o any trouble.
-Still unbalanced, still T-biased. Mainly the battlefield and around the mains is a bit narrow.

95% of the things you did were wrong. This includes things from the mineral field locations to the no-doodad-bland-terrain.

Also, no nat.
Not salvageable, delete, delete, delete :(

This.

You can futilely try to save this map if you wish, but so much of it has to be redone, you'd be essentially making a new map. There is no usable concept. Please read the stickies in this section if you ever hope to make a balanced melee.

Use tinypic.

Also, this may be the only map in existence worse than (2)Crystallis.

*sigh* Well, I knew from the beginning that there was about a 70-80% chance that a "mining through" map would fail. It is just my own fault. I'm going to make a different map, this topic is as good as locked.

Is this what crystallis looks like? I never saw it before-hand and I see it frequently mentioned.

NudeRaider -- blessed innocent soul knows nothing of the strife we had before EUDs were discovered :teehee:

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
