5 Players, Millions of zombies Need ideas!

So my map is pretty much just, up to five players scattered across a 256x256 city. There are 5 different guns you can find and equip which require bullets(gas) to fire. And you need to eat food(minerals) or you will be severely weakened. Both are required to survive the apocalypse and can be found by breaking into buildings and searching for said things. Guns and supplies can be dropped if you want to give them to teammates or if you are carrying too much, which causes you to be slowed. There is a day night system, 3 minutes for daytime, 5 for night. During the day nothing will spawn but during the night "Zombies" will spawn. They increase in types and numbers every night. Boxes(Protoss Gas) and Barrels(Terran Gas) can be picked up and dropped to block zombies, but they can be destroyed.

I also have four special "Zombies"
Archon(Blinds you if come in contact, blind duration can stack)
Dark Archon(Grabs Survivors and drags them away)
Hydra(Spawns queen to ensare)
Ultralisk(High hp and spawns zerglings on death)

Apparently I'm not making this map right because this still isn't turning out fun.

Any ideas to make the game more fun?

To make it funner, try adding random objectives that the players can accomplish for a small reward. Give them something to do other than scour the wastes and hunt for supplies.

An ultralisk with high hp + zerglings is extremely generic, I'm not surprised you think I took the idea. I also don't know who Loveless is.

the zombie director would need limits to balance gameplay right? would the survivors have a 'sanctuary' target?

This. I have yet to see a good zombie map that includes human-controlled zombies in any realistic way.

Some of my ideas:
  • Players get to choose at the beginning whether they're zombies or survivors.
  • If a survivor is killed/infected/<insert method here>, they become a zombie.
  • Gameplay is based around computer players, with humans being (technically) extraneous. Survivors and their accompanying computer share the goal of escape, while zombies and their accompanying computer share the goal of infecting or killing all survivors. Balance could go either way - the game should be built so that if no human players are active, either side can win depending on luck mostly.
  • This opens up the possibility of all the humans deciding to play survivor, all humans deciding to play zombie, some humans intentionally infecting themselves to backstab the other humans, etc.
  • Friendly fire is enabled - thus, zombies can accidentally (or purposefully :omfg:) kill each other, and so can humans.

Just some ideas. If I were going to make a zombie map, I'd try to use them, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

I expect there's a location following each ultra, of which there will be only a few at a time. If 0 ultras are brought to and ultra location, create lings, set a switch. Viola!
