Yes I am this much of a noob SEN.

How do you add footsteps? Example trigger? I swear the wiki is like broken or something cause there's a bunch of nonexistent articles.

Just here for the activity... well not really

http://www.staredit.net/wiki.php?article=Play_a_sound_when_a_unit_walks
http://www.staredit.net/?p=tutorials&tut=35

Two wikis and a tutorial, I can see how it can get confusing and break.

you have a pixel or inverted location the size of your unit and you center the location on the unit every time he moves out of the location, and play a sound every time he moves, or if thats too often, make it add a DC every time he moves out of the location and once its a certain number of DCs play a sound, that way you can tune it so its in sync.

Have a small location centered on your unit.
When the unit leaves that location play a wav then center the location again.
Adjust the size of the location to get the frequency of footsteps that you are looking for.

Hope that is clear enough for ya.

it's just going on a loop now. Anyone know how to fix that

Don't use an inverted location. Remember that when the unit is outside the location, you play the footstep sound then center the location back on the unit. If it still doesn't work, just post your map and we'll fix it.

tl;dt.
Use 1x1 pixel location.

inverted locations are good especially if your unit has an uneven collision box.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
