Imo it's a scarab sprite, but that's just a guess. In reality, I doubt it's possible to guess.

A gas sprite is green.
A scarab is yellow.
The hint says its blue.

Broodling?

If not, is it zerg?

Apr 26 2010, 8:17 pm Super Duper Post #9

It's not a Broodling.
Third hint: You can see part of the unit that sticks out (besides the fruit, duh).

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

Protoss Probe?

Looks like a high-templar's hip. But since that's not blue it's probably a hallucinated unit that happens to have a golden limb. Which one, I don't know.

It's a zealot.

Ding ding ding!
I actually found this to be interesting. It actually looks like a fruit and can be used for some kind of cheesy plot. IE: The mysterious fruit grows upon the trees of time, and when eaten, grants the user infinite magic.
But yeah, it's a zealot. I found this "blend" by accident.

how could you label a zealot as generally blue? Its more... golden. And I don't even see blue in the picture. Ciara, are you color blind?

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
