People have been thinking about it, and I know you have, we should definitely remake all of the classic SCI Unit designs in 3d and export them into SCII (When it comes out) to get some of that old flavor. (That is, of course, when it comes out)

I think the old units are being brought in by Blizzard.

I order you to forgive yourself!

It could be cool to make a SC1 mod where it wouldn't be in 3D, everything the same as SC1 but in SC2.

Sleeping wolves wake hungry.

No it wouldn't, it would be the same as sc1.

You might as well just play sc1.

Starcraft II got a way better engine, it would be Starcraft 1 perfected.

When I import a SC1 map with the editor, everything's black.
Any ideas why and how to fix it?

From what I've read on B.net forums, it's probably because the converter is trying to use a certain terrain but it isn't available yet in the editor so it gives all black.
To fix it, you have to select another terrain available.

I've found the solution:
Map -> Map Texture
And you select textures you want and press 'Ok'.
There you go! ^^
One of the problems: you must replace all Water spots. :P

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
