Yo. I was told about this place a few months ago by my friend, but wasn't interested in mapping at the time. Now I've found SCMDraft, though, and it's a lot better than the old campaign editor, making me interested in mapping. (I've already started a map.)

'Sup, EBay? Welcome to SEN. Watch out if you're thinking about lifting off -- there's a lot of traffic up there... Ahh... subtlety.

If you think SCMD2 is awesomesauce (which it is), you should check out SEN's wiki. StarCraft's many glitches and techniques, like [wiki]Hyper Triggers[/wiki] (faster trigger cycles), [wiki=Terrain#Extended Terrain]extended terrain[/wiki], and [wiki]Death Counters[/wiki] (numeric variables) make it possible to design almost anything, so long as you have the time and expertise. Easy to learn, hard to master.

I've done a lot of reading before I came here and am aware of those techniques you posted. You really think I'd try making a Temple Siege-esque map without hyper triggers and death counts?

Still, thanks. You're trying to help out the new guy, which is more than I can say about some other (non-StarCraft) sites.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
