Master has given Dobby a doctorate! Dobby is free!

It's been too long, SEN.

Just here for the pie

I would participate if you hosted it on a Saturday. Also, why four hours? It just seems a bit arbitrary to me.

Scratch that I'm busy atm. I might be able to do it tomorrow though.

11:59:59 on March 1st?! That would make this contest 28˝ hours long! :hurr:

Interestingly enough, me and my friend had a 2.5 hour mapmaking contest around 3 today.
If I had seen this topic, we would've joined >_>

You still can, there's approximately 25 hours remaining in the contest. The reason it's called "4 hour" contest is so you submit what you have after 4 hours so that everyone had an equal amount of time. Theoretically you could start tomorrow as late as 8pm EST and still submit within the rules. If you start at like, 9 or 10pm and want to submit at 2am... well we could probably make some exceptions for the sake of having more participants :)

Why host somewhere that doesn't even focus on map making?

I order you to forgive yourself!

Well... Here is what I got: Apos' Dodge

Level one works pretty well. I didn't have time to finish everything. I didn't take the full 4 hour but at least, I was close to 3 hour. (Better than last time where I made a map in 10 minutes...)

The cool thing is that I found a new glitch I didn't know. (You need to play the map to see it :D )

Excuse me, I may be jumping the gun just a little, but Vrael better hope for the sake of his contest that there is bigger turnout than this. It really shows how u need to start these contests on fri-sat and sat-sun. At least in this new fangled format and in my opinion.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
