Hi guys, I'm trying to create an earthquake effect by shaking the screen. Tried to center location and center to another location back to back but that doesn't work. What is the right method to do this? Thanks in advance.

I guess you can just make 2 locations, centered in 2 observers. The observers must be vertical, and make them patrol a little going up and down. After that, center view on them really quick, I think that might work.

Try to stay away from "edges" of the map when creating this effect, otherwise it won't work too well. Use two locations placed X distance from each other horizontally, vertically or both (up to you which you think looks best) and then use death counts and center screens to determine how often the screen shakes. That's for a static shake, if you want to have the mobile shake you've got to do a bunch of tricky stuff, so let us know if that's the case.

If you've just got two center screens "back to back" which I assume means one after another in the trigger list, then the center will happen so rapidly that you won't see it. That's why you need death counters to add a delay between each center screen.

@Lenoth instead of using observers you can use a vertical strip of burrowed units, after you center screen you give 1 burrowed unit to different player, so on so on. This gives you relatively the same effect without seeing the observer moving up and down.

It's going to be in a fixed location away from the edges. It's going to happen every time a unit touches the player with a moving location. So one location at the fixed location, and another one directly horizontal from it, then set dcs to center to this location every half second? I'm still not getting the method.

ACT
Center screen at location SHAKE 2

etc. etc. etc. add as many shakes as you want. To save copy/pasting you might want to have a second DC, first DC loops second DC responsible for the end of the shake.

CON
DC is exactly X
ACT
set DC to 0
Preserve

Do you understand now?

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
