It is becoming more difficult to find wonderful places away from the crowds as more people are getting out in the mountains to climb and trek. Tourists are looking for new destinations for their outdoor activities, locations with beautiful unspoiled nature and mountain ranges that are in a safe location, reasonably priced and easy to access. Many people who aren't from Bulgaria don't know the beauty and diversity of the latest member of the EU is. These are only a few of the many reasons to travel to Bulgaria.

See the Stunningly Rich Historical and Cultural Heritage
It is difficult to explain all that can be seen in Bulgaria in just a few phrases. Cultural heritage from Thracian and Roman times, Byzantine, Soviet, and, of course, Bulgarian times is conserved in the Bulgarian areas. In the center of Sofia It is striking to see remains and buildings from every one of these periods in close proximity. You will also find Saint George Rotunda- one of the oldest churches in Europe which dates to the 4th century and Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral- the second biggest on the Balkans. Amazing historical sites are all over Bulgaria. Perperikon is an old Thracian fortress and temple, is one of the most significant megalithic sites. It was built into the rock. One of Europe's most ancient inhabited towns, Plovdiv, is home to the Roman Theater and parts of the Roman Stadium. With its fortress walls that are impressive and traditional houses, Veliko Tarnovo is the capital of the second Bulgarian kingdom.

Take in the beauty of nature
Bulgaria is sure to impress your attention with its stunning and natural beauty. Simply go to the mountains, and you'll find big lakes, charming waterfalls, stunning caves and amazing panoramic views.

Vitosha Mountain is located just outside Sofia and has numerous opportunities for hiking. It also has the Seven Rila Lakes, the Stob Pyramids close to the Rila Monastery The Melnik Pyramids, the Melnik Pyramids and the Iskar Gorge, the Ledenika Cave, and the Belogradchik Rocks. It is also possible to visit the Rose Valley in the Kazanlak region in the month of May. Bulgaria is the home of a variety of hot mineral springs making it a sought-after destination for SPA tourism.

Visit Local Revival Ethnographic towns and reserves
It's a natural part of the historical as well as cultural heritage but it definitely needs extra focus. The typical Revival houses were constructed in some places in Bulgaria in the 19th century. These houses are colorful and feature a distinct architectural style. They are located in the town of Koprivshtitsa and the towns of the past of Plovdiv and Nessebar or if you visit the reserve of ethnography Etara. These areas are great for walking and offer an idyllic, tranquil environment. These houses are usually utilized as small hotels and restaurants, museums, stores or even shops.

Get a taste of the wonderful local cuisine
You can try either something that is more traditional or familiar The food is both delicious and tasty. The traditional local breakfast is known as "banitsa"which is a pastry delight, prepared from dough and white cheese. It is typically served with "ayran" which is a local salty yogurt. With cucumbers and salty yogurt is made the cold summer soup "tarator". Shopska salad, a local favorite salad with cucumbers and tomatoes is one of the most popular. The most popular barbecue comes comprised of pork, and is referred to as "kufte" (round meat balls) or "kebapche" (the long ones). Pork is also used to make an extremely delicious salami- "lukanka". If you are a fan of yogurt, Bulgaria is the right place to be since it is its homeland. Other dishes that are popular and generally served at restaurants include chicken soup, various kinds of barbecues, and throat fish (especially in the mountains).

Enjoy a Lovely Weather
Bulgaria's climate is mainly continental. There are four seasons in Bulgaria, and each season is unique. Bulgaria is a wonderful place to visit throughout all year round. The weather usually is clear, without rains. It is important to remember that temperatures are higher in July and August and snow can fall more intensely in winter.

The most enjoyable way to enjoy hot summer is to hike or relax on the beach or go to beautiful mountain towns. Sofia is also an option, since it is situated in between mountains, so temperatures aren't too high. The country experiences heavier rains in the second half of May. The coldest month usually falls in January, but when you're dressed appropriately you shouldn't have an issue as you can still do sightseeing tours.

Feel safe and calm
Bulgaria is actually quite secure country for trip. The population is mostly Christian Orthodox and the locals are quite welcoming towards tourists. The majority of the population speaks English fluently however, there are those who have been forced to learn Russian in the time of the Soviet Union. There isn't much traffic, so it isn't a risk of getting stolen (contrary the tourist destinations and places). It is possible to enjoy a a relaxing walk through the main streets or in the parks in the towns and not worry about your possessions.
