A student taking control of their lives is the most significant thing. This is the main purpose of the prevention programs. Students who are empowered to make better choices can make a difference in their lives and the lives of others. Here are ten tools that can be used to help you make better decisions for yourself.

Do not be afraid to say"no.
We fear negative reactions from peers. Although you may believe that you are not the only one, not all are taking this approach. A lot of people wait that the right person will say no, so they don't feel alone. Don't let other people decide your future. There is no need to explain why you are doing this. You can just walk away. It's your right. Look at here to discover a full report about teen drug abuse.

Join friends.
Be aware of the people you're hanging out with. A group of friends who share similar values can make it easier to resist peer pressure. You'll feel better in a group of those who make poor decisions. To get along, you don't need to be like everyone else.

Keep in touch to your parents as well as other trustworthy adults.
Teachers and parents are an excellent source of strength and support. Whatever you may be going through there are people who are there to help. They can assist you if you do make mistakes, or assist you to move on from mistakes. They will remain with you long after others in your life have left.

Be happy and do the good things that you are passionate about.
It is important to find more things to do that don't involve drugs and alcohol. Inactivity and empty lives are the pathways that often make young people want to fill the gap in their lives by drug abuse. Don't abandon the pursuits you enjoy to pursue activities that will harm you. Stay on the ground during those things that truly define you.

Follow your family's rules.
Don't let alcohol or drugs hinder your relationship with your family. As you grow older and become more in control of your life, don't forget who you are and the things you are a firm believer in. Your safety is protected by your family's rules, and you have the power to make them your own. Stick to what you know is right, and talk to your parents about issues you're dealing with in life.

Learn more.
There are a lot of myths and misinformation. Do not take your facts from the dumbest person in your circle who is currently taking substances. Learn the truth about the effects of drugs to get the facts. Use those facts to guide you away from making destructive choices in your daily life.

Act as a role model.
Set the example. You are not only laying an environment for yourself, but also helping others to understand the same. It is not possible to have more influence on the life and relationships of your acquaintances than watching them make good decisions. It will have a positive impact to your life and it could also change the lives of your friends.

Prepare for the future.
Do not allow yourself to end up in a situation where you appear to have no option to get out. Do not let other people be a part of your journey as they are driving drunk or in violation of the law. If you are in trouble, make plans to to leave.

Talk Out.
Be accountable for your actions. When you see others putting themselves in a bad position Say something. Say to them that you're seeing them come apart and you're disappointed. Do not allow them to tell you that everything is fine. You must hear the truth.

Bring help.
Seek help if someone you know struggles with addiction issues or alcohol. Don't wait. If you're in trouble, reach out now. There are people that want to help. It's not necessary to be alone.
