They make an egg. Shit happens in an egg.

Sep 18 2008, 9:30 pm Hug A Zergling Post #42

True. But they dont useally grow 13x bigger then the egg upon hatching....

Sep 19 2008, 12:54 am Vi3t-X Post #43

I find that unusual as well. No tiny egg can house a creature that massive.

Sep 19 2008, 1:07 pm Paravin. Post #44

It grows. And when it has grown critical size, it hatches.

Sep 20 2008, 2:11 am Hug A Zergling Post #45

but the egg would hatch before it got THAT big.

I believe that they're still using "Core Genuses" in SCII if not I will be disappointed.

Sep 22 2008, 8:53 am SubFocus Post #47

Yeah, the fact that the very moment the ultralisk hatches from the egg it's massive.
The egg should just grow larger over time, in SC2.
Would make more sense imo.

The subsequent conflict with that is, you would know what they're producing...

Well SC2 doesn't seem to have that problem...

At the cost of being unrealistic, would you not agree?

Sep 25 2008, 9:54 pm Demented Shaman Post #51

They're aliens they can do whatever they want. Right after an ultralisk hatches it just grows really big really fast.

This is wear my dollar store sponge animals come in.

Sep 26 2008, 2:45 am Vi3t-X Post #53

Even sponge animals don't grow that fast. I mean, it sits in an egg for "a day" and it hatches. Then it rapidly mutates. w.t.f.

Gameplay? Dor.. Balance? Doorrr.. Super advanced fighters that can cloak within a minute? Dorrr.

Sep 27 2008, 11:38 am Hug A Zergling Post #55

They actually have material that can bend light....who knows how long it will be until we can cloak ourselves. Ultralisks, on the other hands, have no explanation.

Super mutatious biomaterials blended with super dense minerals to form super huge biomass within minutes. OR secret xel'naga genetic technology. Read Starcraft storyline.

The latter.

Hello

my facts to the Zerg....
I like the new units of the zerg but the creep isnt the best-looking, i think...
here are my feedbacks to the zerg units i know [i doesnt matter if you dont matter what im tihnking about them]

Zergling: The new graphic isnt that cool... more like a dog (like in SCBW) would be better :)

Hydralisk: Nice graphic, but the "i am borruwed and my owner can see which unit i am" graphic looks... crap??
also the shot [needle spines] dont looks fine, because i cant see em??? are there some spines? just see a green
hit at the enemys units in the video on starcraft2.com

Ultralisk: EPIC!!! Splash, Borruwable, now the Ultralisk are really good :) (not like in SCBW, these fat asses :D)

Baneling: Im happy that this unit exist.... i never saw in any Player vs Player game that a Zerg player infested a other CC to
make infested terrans, so morphing suicders out of lings is an epic idea

Mutalisk: I like this unit anyway....^^

Corruptor: This is my most wanted unit... it replaces the DeVouReRs :P and its attack form is epic....
whoever draw its graphic did well work

Swarm Guardian: Didn't saw a pic of them now, but i guess they are = normal guardians in SCBW, just with the abillity to
spawn broodlings, which us very senceless, because the guards may should have a spell against air^^

The Buldings: All buildings I saw so far haven't an epic graphic.... its just to grey (?)... whats your opinion?
But the new tech-tree is good! [I'm really happy that some guys draw these techtree's pictures :)]

Last Words: I just hope that the lurkers comes back :) (i think they are just in SC2... im not sure...)

In response to this page of discussion: The rest of the Ultralisk is underground.

And I assume the rest of the Mutalisk is in the air.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
[2026-6-21. : 4:26 am]
Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
