This is the map I entered for the Maplantis Christmas mapping contest. There was no winner, and my entry was pretty much the only serious one. I put a good deal of effort into it, so I dug it up and decided to post it.

http://www.staredit.net/files/714/

The objective is to steal the opposing team's gifts from under their tree. Both teams can make Protoss units. The Maplantis side can get Terran units, and the Evil Elves side Zerg. Building a Pylon yields a time bomb which destroys all blocks vertically and horizontally from its location.

Thanks. I do host it once in a while, but it's a bit strange if it's in the middle of August. I'm sure I'll be playing it a lot more come winter.

Explain the exploding pylons, and how you "steal" presents.

How many Presents?
Building Units are for...
Buildings that Build Units are...

For every player on your team, there is a present under your opponent's tree. You are a probe, and all presents are powerups. You must get every present under your own tree.

There are eight types of gifts, and they must be under your tree to be activated:

"Obviously a CD" - Data Disk, Ability to make Dragoons and Robotics Facilities
"Bling Bling" - Khalis Crystal, Gives you a Templar Archives
"Pointy Present" - Uraj Crystal, Tank / Ultralisk
"Neatly Wrapped Present" - Protoss Gas, Upgrades
"Poorly Wrapped Present" - Zerg Gas, Increased mineral gain
"Christmas Dinner" - Young Chrysalis, Vulture / Hydralisk
"PS 394" - Psi Emitter, Marine / Zergling
"Toy Robot" - Khaydarin Crystal, Support Bay (Reavers)

You can build cannons, gateways, battery shields, and robotics facilities. From gateways, the four Protoss ground units, and Reavers from the Robotics Facility. Both Archons are playable. Each team gets a Dropship / Overlord to use to spawn Marines, Vultures, and Tanks for the Terrans, and Zerglings, Hydralisks, and Ultralisks for the Zerg.

And Pylons, of course, blow up everything to the left and right, and above and below where they were created. This kills all Probes, troops, and buildings in their path.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
