I don't know how many of you people use XFire or visit the XFire site at all but I didn't know that they had a forums for StarCraft, so I went to investigate... Right near the top of the page I find the topic 'Starcraft rips off' created by XFire's thecrystalsoldier... All I have to say about this guy is that he/she is a major dooshbag... Just his first post of "starcraft is just a rip off of wc and counterstrke" is absolutely amazing, ya right, and almost made me cry, again ya right... Here is the topic on XFire of how this idiot believes that Starcraft is a rip off of Warcraft and Counterstrike, even though Starcraft was made first...

If Starcraft is ripped off something it is Warhammer 40k. Not sure if this is right, but I think I once heard that Blizzard tried to get the rights to make a game based on Warhammer 40k, but they didn't get it so they made Starcraft instead.

And Warhammer 40k is ripped off the Starship Troopers novel. Awesome.

I can't believe all of the people that agree with him after someone posted that it was created before both of those games. If anything those games are ripped off from StarCraft.

Doodan's right when he says that there's really nothing original anymore. Well, to be fair, there are a few totally original ideas, but even among those, they rarely get mainstream acceptance. StarCraft is just another sci fi story with humans and aliens - it just happens to be told rather wonderfully.

I have come to the conclusion that Starcraft got it just about right, which is why any game that is kinda like Starcraft but not quite is never as good.
