I'm sorry, but I find it very annoying when people put the $ sign on the right of dollar amounts. It goes on the left, like so: $1000. It most certainly does not go 1000$ because that looks retarded.

And umm, what yoshi said. He's good with computers.
Thx queen of grammar.... Why not get a desktop? They're cheaper for what you want and if you already have a laptop then you've got the board covered. Just a thought :)

I know you said 1000$ but for 1200$, this is quite the beast.

Laptops arent really my thing, but this one looks like a steal. Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.40GHz), 4GB RAM and an amazing GeForce 9500M GS.

Have a look. I didnt check out the earlier reccomended Dell (because i hate and refuse to buy them.).

Edit: Was looking and they did this:
2GB x 2
Note: 4GB physical memory installed. Due to 32bit OS limitation, system will only detect and show 3GB only

If you 'acquire' *Wink wink nudge nudge* a 64bit copy of Vista, you can just wipe the HDD and install that, which i reccomend doing anyway since according to the reviews it comes with a lot of trial/bundle software.
I've been looking for a laptop the past couple months.. and that one is pretty much the one I am looking for.

I just ordered it 5 minutes ago. Thanks. :D

Asus, I never heard of them. Can I get something saying they are good oO. I also agree with you about Dell. I've seen so many of dell computers stop working or have things go wrong with them after a year or so. Also, anyway I can customize that computer in the link?

Thank You for looking! ^^

The best customizable laptops come from dell, alienware, or a brand that nobody has ever heard of.
I do not understand how anybody does not like dell...i <3 1680x1050 resolution on my laptop :)
Asus laptops come in prebuilt

The sword and the faith

ASUS makes good motherboards as far as i know, but i dont know about their laptops. If anything, talk to Deathawk, he'd know.

Since my name was mentioned.. -.-

You shouldn't have any problems with buying an ASUS laptop over any other laptop, really.

As far as people recommending brands to go for and avoid... Stop being fanboys. =\ You'll find that there isn't much difference between most mainstream laptop lines between companies. :\

Infact, the only laptop manufacturers that stand out are Lenovo(their thinkpad line) and Apple. :\

Asus has by far the best mother boards IMO and in many others opinions as well. A noble purchase if you can call a purchase noble  Hope it works out for you!

I received the laptop that Excalibur[MM] posted and I must say, I love it! So a big Thank You to you and everyone else who helped.

Just one more question: Excalibur[MM] had mentioned to upgrade to 64-Bit because I have 4g ddr ram on a 32bit. I was reading about 64bit Vista and they say it has a lot of compatibility issues especially with drivers. Question is, should I get Vista64bit or not?

Thank You Once Again! :) :) :) :) :) ^^ ^^ ^^

in my opinion i would not get 64bit because it is a laptop and .5 gb upgrade does not seem worth the driver issues

I would not get 64 bit right now. A lot of applications seem to have problems with it (even though it shouldn't). And don't worry about seeing less than 4 gigs, you'll never use that many right now and when you do, you'll be able to switch to 64 bit easily.

I think 64-bit has a worse reputation than it actually deserves. With a lot of people now moving to 64-bit because the RAM is so much more cheap and abundant, efforts have been taken to get 64-bit working correctly, and I'd say a lot of times you'll be able to install a 64-bit OS and not look back.

Thank You all! I think I'll just wait until I see it has less issues with it.

Cheers,

If you do want to try it, you may not need to buy another copy of Vista if you already have a 32-bit version. You may be able to use your existing key with a 64-bit version (though I'm not 100% sure). I think you can get media for the 64-bit version for about $10 from Microsoft, if you want to go through legal distribution routes.

Edit:

Nevermind, it doesn't appear you can get the 64-bit media through that method with an OEM key. But still, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that Vista keys are not 32-bit or 64-bit specific.

For those who do have a retail version (upgrade or full) and want a 64-bit disc, the page is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ordermedia/default.mspx

haha for sure. in some ways it's even more exciting because you can play EUD maps on regular battle.net, don't need to convince someone to download your mod to play with you. what did you do?
