What is it and when will it come into use?

IP needs to finish coding how it handles negative values, just for you.

You know that every time we edit/delete/do something against a member they'll give us negative karma?

Us moderators should be immune. Mwhauwahwuawahwa

Karma is based on posts, not specifically the member. So if they go around giving negative karma to posts for any reason other than the post sucks... i'll be upset.
Karma is basically that, + or - reputation given out for posts. Negative karma effects you back, though not as much as the person you affected.
It's not in because I have no idea how I'm going to prevent abuse yet. And I'd rather just no code it than have to deal with the aftermaths of stupid fucks who can't use things the way they are meant to be used, usually stemming from immaturity and taking things way too seriously.

Only allow regulars to give/take karma? (like.. 300+ posts or whatever it is)

Far more people like us than members dislike us.

What uses will karma have?

None.

Apr 6 2008, 11:44 pm Forsaken Archer Post #9

Use: lulz
Might have more uses, karma is karma, and as such, it effects everything you do.

More importantly, if a user has low karma, ignore them.

normal/positive karma = unlimited posts/shouts per day
negative = limited.. the more negative.. the more limited.

That would be interesting.

Are you sure about that?

I agree with both of Merrel's ideas

Why do we need karma anyway? We need simplicity.

Apr 7 2008, 8:51 pm Vi3t-X Post #14

We need a highly advanced idea, such as this (wait.. this isn't advanced...)
And then we simplify it into something simpler, such as what MrrLL described.

Well, now that there's just posts, not cumulative posts, I think that only those with maybe 500+ posts (I'll check if that includes me after posting :P) can give karma. Also, depending on your karma, you can give more karma to others. If you're lower then say -10, you can't give karma at all.

Let's see.... membergroups, warn levels, etc... How many plans do you want me to come up with? :P

My god Syphon cant u take a joke, and anyways, i just found it on the rules, so therefore, you were right to edit this, but 50 minerals is so much of a HIGH price. i couldve accepted 25 max. But owell, moderators are moderators and protect SEN, so i'll have to go with this thing, and i will not let it happen again

Isn't that a bannable offense? I mean, you can always check their IP addresses. Though you shouldn't ban based on that, since me and my brother share an IP address.

This system seems rather easy for people to abuse.
For example let's say FlyingHat gets mad at me (an impossible act of course as I own his soul.. but hypothetically).
My karma gets pwnt. As does his.

Good thing it doesn't mean anything.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.
[2026-7-15. : 4:10 am]
Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
