IP asked me a brief/vague question and I struggled to find an opinion on what I would really like. Figured I'd see what you guys thought.

Should polls have the ability to be added to any post, or just at the start of topics? I'll make that the main point of this thread via the poll.

Also, do you want an 'edit poll' function when editing your first post in a topic (or maybe any post) in case you f'ed up the poll (or perhaps just want to change it)? In which case, all results would be reset upon the polls editing. (I do)

Do you want the 'show results' button ala Maplantis, allowing the oppourtunity for everyone to look at who voted what in the polls? (I always liked that function)

Should there even be a 'force vote' option when someone is making a poll? (I think not)

Post all other suggestions and comments regarding polls that don't concern my questions here also.

In any post. Spam much? IMO, just leave it as topic start only

YES! I've always wanted to edit my poll rather then bothering the administration for doing that for me.

Force vote is an option, don't like it = don't use it.
I'm thinking polls will work like this in the future:
You may or may not be able to post your poll at the very topic start. It depends on the complexity of the polls and my laziness to write it easy to call functions.
After your topic is made though, you'll be able to attach any number of polls (max determined by resources used). Polls will basically be the same as they are now, min/max votes with weights/no weights. Ability to force vote (no looking at posts until your vote is cast).
You'll be able to close polls and/or collapse them into one line (so that if poll 1 is done, you can make it smaller while still allowing people to vote via click to expand, giving prominence to poll 2).
You'll be able to edit poll options (or delete and remake the poll), but doing so will kill all current votes (or automatically force next item \/ ).
You may or may not be able to change your vote after you already voted. It may also be an option to allow users to do so.
I plan on making it an option to show who voted for what in the poll. I liked that on maplantis. However, I'm not sure if it was an option there.
Show results != null vote. You'll not be able to see results with the forced option though.

1) Though I rarely see someone fail so hard that the poll requires editing, I say yay for this feature, because it is one of those little things that make the forums "flexible" (for lack of a better word).

2) Yes. That's a cool thing to have.

3) Forced vote? lulwut? You mean not being able to see the results until you vote? I say nay.

To answer the poll question: I think it's great to be able to attach a poll to any post you make. I can see this feature being used in the mapping section: you can discuss ideas and then, when all the main arguments have been posted, make a poll (so everyone hears all the ideas/arguments first, and only then votes); or even make a poll for every aspect/system you want to implement (terrain tileset, hero levelup system, type of battle system, etc.).

EDIT:
It would be great to have links to all polls of a thread at the top of the page.

Instead of poll per post, there could also simply be a link to post option for a poll, so you can direct users into an expanded poll description. But your reasons for post per polls is good.

haha for sure. in some ways it's even more exciting because you can play EUD maps on regular battle.net, don't need to convince someone to download your mod to play with you. what did you do?
