Anyone else here play the original Doom, Doom 2, or Final Doom? If so, there's a mod for it called Skulltag that adds multiplayer capabilities (I saw 16 players in one game), several multiplayer game modes, a few new monsters, weapons and powerups, makes it really 3d, and adds OpenGL rendering. It's essentially, the Quake 3 of the Doom games (until Doom 4 is released, at least).

I'm making a mod for Skulltag that converts several textures, monsters, weapons and a ton of other things from Quakes 2 and 4 to Doom for a Single Player/Cooperative campaign.

I have:

The Ultimate Doom
Doom 2
Master Levels for Doom 2

I don't think I've ever tried Final Doom (I don't believe ID even made it, I think it was made by another company with permission by ID)

I'd rather play Doom 3's multiplayer anyways (Or even Quake 4's, which is funner) cause its much better :)

I think Final Doom (and one of the Quake 2 expansions) was made by some fans and packaged by Id.

Skulltag's multiplayer is quite fun, I was spectating a hectic capture the flag game a little while ago :D.

I have to wait for my mom to send me my old Doom games anyways (They are the "Doom 95" versions) if I were to even try that..... And I don't even have internet anyways, so yeah :P

Network games FTW!

I don't have any of the FPS Doom games, but I do play DoomRL on occasion. Anyone else play this? For me, it's proof of just how unnecessary graphics are in making a good game.

Doomsday Engine and jDoom for me, mostly. Unless I feel like some classic fun, then I load up DOSBox and kick it back old-school.

If you can't beat at least the shareware episode on nightmare, don't bother calling yourself a gamer.

I don't do too well on nightmare (because I -always- hunt for secrets and the last monsters), but I can beat the entire game on ultra-violence, and have even pistol-started (and speed-ran) E3M7.

Ive played doom demo and had the pleasure of playing other Doom games (forget which ones) at a friends house. They are awesome games, as well as the Quake series. Even though the graphics on them are a little "old" they have excellent game play and thats what makes it such an awesome game

Hexen? Damn! I haven't played that game in forever! Played it on the Nintendo 64 cause my cousin had it..

I even have Duke Nukem 3D, hahaha!

Duke Nukem 3D, Quake 1-4, Doom 1-4 (Including Master Levels for Doom 2) and Hexen kick ass.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
