I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

STARCRAFT II - Legacy of the Void Beta
--- now on Steam live ---

Quote from Blizzard Entertainment
The StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void beta has officially begun! The beta test includes a host of new units, abilities, gameplay changes, and more to check out. This includes a switch from Battle.net to Valve's Steam platform to run the multiplayer service. The generated traffic on battle.net was often very demanding especially in the evening hours for our own servers to handle. We looked into several solutions and a cooperation with Valve seemed like the best option. Blizzard is happy to announce that the days of watching the loading circles spin all day are now officially over.

We have further plans to improve the battle.net experience and we will share them with you in near future.

Red classic.

The truth: LotV beta started. Check out the gaming streaming services, if you are interested in SC2's altered multiplayer.

The lies: Blizzard did not announce cooperating with Steam. However, every lie has some truth to it. I feel that SC2 shows the loading circles way too often. Maybe there is a way to make the experience smoother for LotV.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
