I got Tide once and an actual brand is definitely superior (dissolves better, and less useless bulk), but I'm too cheap for that always.
I always just get the boxes of powdered detergent.
I don't really have a reason other than it's what I have always used.

Has anyone here tried making their own laundry detergent? I haven't tried it, but I hear it's pretty cheap (depending on what you use) and that you have a lot of control over the scent.
