wth is starcraft

Does anyone know how to change the Microsoft Office 2010 Icons in Windows 7?

I've changed other icons no problem - desktop icons, and other programs' icons.

As you can see, the "Change Icon..." option isn't available for me to click on. :(

Those shortcuts have some weird Windows protection on them.

Navigate to (assuming you have the default install path):

64-bit: C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office/Office14/
32-bit: C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office14/

Manually create a shortcut for the executable (e.g., WINWORD.EXE). You'll be able to modify this like any other shortcut file.

Awesome, thanks Roy. You can do it from your desktop -> create new shortcut -> find path -> replace current path.

No...I mean there's a wizard. The way I read Roy's instructions it had me open up the file and create a shortcut there. Which didn't work, but I was able to do it from the Desktop. If I read his directions wrong then that's my fault, otherwise I don't really see the point of your post because as far as I can tell my way was different :P

I had no point except being a nitpicking smart-ass.

As I read it Roy didn't specify the method to create a shortcut. He just said do it [in whatever fashion you desire], and use the following the following path: blah.

As for your problem creating the shortcut after opening the application path in explorer... Did you drag the .exe with the right mouse button onto the desktop? This gives a prompt to create a shortcut.
(The wizard from the desktop of course works just as well.)

My instructions were more oriented towards navigating to the executable first and then creating the shortcut in whatever fashion you desire. I personally would just right-click on the executable and select "Create Shortcut" and rename/move it from there. But the main point is that the default shortcuts for Office programs cannot be edited because Microsoft made them that way (as a form of security or something), so you have to make your own.

I had no idea there was a wizard for making shortcuts. I'm so used to navigating through explorer that I forget most people access everything through a million icons on the desktop.

The finished product is in the Desktops thread. I think my icons came out pretty well. I hadn't had time to work on it until now. :kame:

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface

NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
