I have found how to modify every other aspect of the game but I'm having trouble finding the layout for the login screen. any information to push me in the right direction. I'm not asking to be spoon fed just a point and a smack to send me the right way.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

login to b.net I'm guessing.

There's a .res file under the patch_rt can't remember the name.
If it's something that is not b.net that's probably found on .bins which you ca edit with binedit2

EDIT: glubn.res I think.

fuck you all

Look under the glue\Battle.Net\ directory in Stardat and find the PCX file that entails it, then convert it to BMP, edit it, and reconvert it and insert it as a PCX again. I can't point you to which file it is exactly, but just look carefully at the names and you'll find what you're looking for.

That's the graphics portion of it at least. If you're looking into modifying the menu's layout altogether, look at the topic in the other forum http://www.staredit.net/?topic=1188&view=unread#special

And that should be all you need.

Edit ~ The file you're looking for is called glue\battle.net\backgrounds\bnlogin.pcx
There's also a glubnres.res that Corbo mentioned, but really, I have no idea how to edit this.

How would I got about the .res file tho
why couldn't they have just left it like the rest of teh .bin files instead of a .res :-(

👻 👾 👽 💪

All Battle.net-related dialogs are a resource file. Not all are in the .res file, either. Use ResHacker.

Whatever farty said, yes, use ResHacker.

Although that corrupted my files sometimes but other times does work.

I think I'm gonna give up on this the glubnres.res only contained some dialog boxes and for the life of me I can't find the login screen anywhere

You could have asked.

Open battle.snp in StarCraft's root folder in ResHacker.
Dialog->103->1033 (For English)
Do your thing.
Save it as something else (Either call it something new, or give it a new extension. Anything different is what you want.)

Find where it is referenced in SC. I tried a text search in starcraft.exe and didn't find it... but maybe it's in a tbl, resource, or other file. That should be your problem (I don't think I have the time to search through every little nook and cranny in SC to find it for you.)

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
