Hey everyone, recently I have been working on a new map called Cat n Mouse Simple. I did not come up with this idea, it was by pathde_f @ USEast. But he never finished the map, and the versions he made sucked. So now I started this from scratch where the Cat is randomly chosen from the Mice players, or you can choose Cat in the 2nd Force. It will eventually have good anti-hack against Oblivion and drophacks.


How to Play (Cat):
--1. Kill a MouseHole to get out at the beginning
--2. Kill buildings/units to get feed
--3. Kill Mice to get 1 Gas which you can use to buy Spells
--4. GOAL: Kill all Mice

How to Play (Mouse):
--1. Leave the Save Beacon to go stand by a Brown Pylon
--2. When you stand by a Brown Pylon, you get 1 Mineral / Second
--3. Try to Upgrade your Income to the final stage as fast as possible
--4. Use Pylons to block the Cat
--5. Don't forget you can buy upgrades
--6. Transfer Money or Ownership to help out your teamates
--7. Buy units
--8. GOAL: Kill the Cat

Cat Spells:
FlyingZeppelin (2): Zerg Queen - Use Ensnare to slow down Mice use Parasite so you can always see where they are, and spawn Broodlings on MouseHoles to try and kill the Mice
BabyCat (4): Zerg Ultralisk - Another Cat but with 0 damage that gains 2 for every melee attack upgrade.
CatSniper (3): Infested Duran - Use Lockdown to freeze the Mice, Cloak and block MouseHoles, and Consume to regenerate energy faster.
120Gas (1): Gives the Cat 120 Gas to buy upgrades.
Maggot (2): Infested Terran
Kitten (1): Zerg Zergling
MouseMagnet (1): Orders the Mice towards the Cat. Great for getting people that are AFK and unsuspecting Mice.
StealMiceMoney (1): Steals the Mice' money from them so they cannot use it to buy upgrades or units.

Mouse Spells:
GetBrownPylon: 100 Minerals - Turns 1 of the Pylon next to your Mouse to Brown.
Flash (Protoss Zealot): 50 Minerals
UpgradeIncome (4 Max): 150 Minerals - Upgrades your income from 1 Mineral / Second up to 5 Minerals / Second.
CatRepel: 250 Minerals - Repels the Cat away from the Mice.
Holo: (Protoss High Templar): 25 Minerals
MaelYou (Protoss Dark Archon): 35 Minerals
MouseHole (Terran Civilian): 65 Minerals
CreepyCrawly (Protoss Reaver): 120 Minerals

**Mice and Cats can both get heroes in the middle, you just have to figure out the different combinations. To see the prices of units, you have to put your Dark Templar on the Price? Buy shop and place that unit on the unit you are thinking about buying. Sorry but I could not fit the prices in the name stacks. And I did not use minerals because it is really unfair if the Mice can go right through the Cats, I quickly learned that in earlier versions.

EDIT: Would any of you guys like me to post an unprotected version so you can look at it without going into Starcraft?

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
