OlimarandLouie's bill has died due to inaction by President Azrael.Wrath.

Year 2 has begun!
Quote from name:Rules
Congress can resurrect a dead bill with a 2/3rds majority vote by the end of the year.

I'm not following what is going on here.

Sorry I missed that, OlimarandLouie's bill has been implemented. The previous policy list and the OP have been updated accordingly.

Wait, we do not receive new Secret Policies for the new year?
Technology is just going to keep getting bashed into oblivion. ;o

We get new policies every 4 years, and also a new presidential election at that time.

None.

Quote from payne

No, every four years. If we received new policies every year, there'd be no point in even having policies. You couldn't make deals with people, form alliances, or implement any form of strategy since you couldn't account for what would happen the next year. The winner would be determined mostly by random.org.

Every four years works pretty well at changing things up a little while still giving a reasonable time frame of stable policies to work within, plus there will be another four years after the new policies are distributed in order to regain some of the points you may have lost in the previous term.

Quote from payne
Technology is just going to keep getting bashed into oblivion. ;o

Well it is the least popular policy, and I want the fewest number of people to be negatively affected as possible. Even people with +Technology were adding -Technology to their own bill, it's in the best interests of the whole. That being the case, all bills must include -Technology. It's the only right thing to do.

You can counteract this by passing a bill which has more positive points than negative points for you. Contact me with a bill draft, and I can check with the members of the SRP to ensure it does not hurt any one of them in particular. I'm sure we can work something out.

However, if you do not work out favorable terms with us [SRP], we will ensure you do not pass your bill.

If you don't want to end up with -100 points by the end of the game, you might consider your next response a bit more carefully.
I just wanted to let my fellow SEN citizens know what kind of corruption is currently ruining their awesome island.
Do we really want someone manipulating the Powers as a President?

I demand a referendum to know the population's vision toward their current leader now that they know that an elected members of their Congress is being threatened for wanting to remain an independent candidate.
I am here to represent my electors' voices, and not the ones from the candidates themselves.

Well, if I understand properly, all the bills that have already passed will be resubmitted for the next 4 years.

I still prefer the idea of randomizing policies more often. :massimo:

Also, NO to Rai's bill.

I note NEIGH on payne's so-called "people's bill" that does nothing but curtail their freedom and equality, and YEA on Raitaiki's bill.

Quote from payne
I just wanted to let my fellow SEN citizens know what kind of corruption is currently ruining their awesome island.

Yes, I would also like the island of SEN to be aware of the corruption present, which I have attempted to curb both diplomatically and then forcefully. However, the corrupt self-serving Payne refuses to listen to the people, or to be reasoned with in any capacity.

He is so greedy and determined to focus only on his own desires that he would rather attempt to publicly misconstrue a perfectly harmless comment out-of-context than actually take a moment to negotiate an outcome that is best for everyone.

This is the entirety of my attempted negotiation, which clearly demonstrates the great willingness I had to work out favorable terms for everyone, especially payne.

Quote from Azrael.Wrath
As the elected representative of the SRP, I am contacting you in regards to passing a bill which helps your policies.

I propose the following bill:

+Morality
+Economy
-Technology
-Freedom

Please respond to let me know if you would gain/lose points or break even. If you would gain points, then I suppose this would be acceptable for you.

However, do not submit this bill yet, even if it is good for you. I have not cleared this with other members of the SRP yet. I need to know if it works for you first, then I will contact them.
Quote from payne
I never asked to be part of the SRP. ;)
Quote from Azrael.Wrath
You are not, nor will you ever be, a member of the SRP. We have the maximum number of members.

However, if you do not work out favorable terms with us, we will ensure you do not pass your bill.

If you don't want to end up with -100 points by the end of the game, you might consider your next response a bit more carefully.
Quote from payne
Shall the SRP suck my dick then. :wtfawesome:

As you can see, payne has refused from the beginning to be civil, helpful, or provide any feedback whatsoever. My comment to him was merely a statement of fact; if you do not work out favorable terms with a majority of players, you will end up with a negative score in the triple digits, because your bills will never be passed, and your favored policies will be entirely overlooked.

In order to ensure this kind of corruption does not spread, I will state the following:

Anyone who is voting "yes" for payne's bill at the time of its deadline will have their own bill vetoed.

This is only for the duration of this year, as I would like to give him the opportunity to reform. Stopping this kind of behavior, like the underhanded leaking of private conversations taken out-of-context to smear an elected official, is exactly what the SRP is trying to change. We want a government that is to-the-point, one that is for the people, not for themselves.

I implore payne to reflect on the abuse of his position, to look back down the dark road he has traveled and to choose a path more brightly lit to walk in the future. I would like to reopen negotiations with you for next year payne, and hope that you can be more willing to reason, to have a conversation rather than simply stating your demands. Please, from now on consider acting in a way that is best for the people of SEN, instead of just yourself.

I look forward to working something out with you in the future that is as fair for you as everyone else ^^

I hereby draft my Save The Fishies bill:
+ Economy
+ Environment
- Freedom
- Technology

This bill will ensure toxic sludge from designer jeans factories do not kill our fishies through a multiple-pronged approach:
1. The economy will be encouraged grow away from consumption and towards a service-based economy.
2. Strict water quality regulations will be put in place, now that we have secured our forests against future exploitation.
3. The freedom of the people will be curtailed: no designer jeans are to be legally sold within SEN's borders.
4. The designer jeans factories will be prohibited from operating within SEN's borders.

I finalise my NEIGH on payne's bill.

:payne:

I am here to represent the greatest interest of my electors, and not the ones of the other candidates.
Fellow citizens, I hereby quote your elected President:
Quote from Azrael.Wrath
However, if you do not work out favorable terms with us, we will ensure you do not pass your bill.
Quote from Azrael.Wrath
Anyone who is voting "yes" for payne's bill at the time of its deadline will have their own bill vetoed.
If this looks like democracy, and does not look like dictatorship and abuse of power to you, you are a lost soul.
Not to mention that this President was elected solely by the members of the Congress, and that citizens didn't participate at all in voting for the person that has the anti-democratic right of "Veto" against bills that would be passed by their elected candidates.

My current remedy is rather simple: abolish the position of the President (if the game allows it), and abolish any form of "false freedom of choice" (like the current regressive and anti-democratic form the Sen Reform Party has taken).
We will soon end up having to bend to certain people's desires because of the dependence this system will have created.

NO to Lanthanide's bill.
NO to Tikel's current draft.
