imo should of posted a image before the smile becuase it makes it seem like another spam topic...

Most of this stuff is good but its simple re-hatching of the blends we have already made otherwise good work and almost no blocks found... most the pieces tend to blend fairly well...

Thanks Tempz, my terrain has more of a stylistic approach. Minor details mean everything to me.

Could you maybe post a map so we could use your work?

Dec 21 2011, 10:33 pm Dizzy Post #5

Yes, I will actually be coming out with a compilation map soon Pr0nogo, and as long as you give credit I am totally fine with you using it. :jaff:

Sweet, thanks. I'll be sure to credit you and whoever else I take terrain concepts or inspiration from.

Take a look at Siege Dyne's waterfall: it's awesome.

Heh, I already made my template. After I post my waterfall I'll look at it and could you link it Payne.
By the way, if anyone wants me to polish their terrain and give it a little more style feel free to pm to me or post it on this thread.
Thanks, Unholy!

EDIT:
Updated with waterfall. And by the way the eye of the machine glows inside the waterfall.

I know i was the one to invent the use of the white robot blocks to create debris but over use of it makes it look really tacky... its best mixed in with water trees i find but its fine all the same. Good attempt with waterfall as it is hard to master a new medium (my first trees were pretty bad looking) With that many blocks I'd rather just stick with the high dirt waterfall instead of the temple waterfall.

Yeah, still a rough draft and yeah the white robot blocks make great rocks Tempz. I haven't taken a look at your terrain. I'm too busy hating on sam's skills.

This is what I'm aiming for in my newest map. I want to revamp the dash series & create a compilation that accompanies a lot of long and tedious running.

Another fine example of water doodads using the bottom titles of the dead white robot thing

You can also make water trees by using the cliff side along with a tree sprite (top middle of image) of course the effect is better when using jungle tree's however there are some work arounds to this...

The echelon looks awesome. I noticed the reaver and hydralisks under the water; are they supposed to be drowned carcasses? Or are they alive?

I really like the gun emporium as well. Especially how you placed that metal "bridge" parallel to the asphalt. Looks pretty cool.

I hope I can make such exquisite pieces someday. Do post more.

Yes, they are very much alive. They're working moving units. And yes I've been busy. Don't worry though, I have some phenomenal pieces coming your way. :apos: & for you motivation is key when I make some pieces I look at the pictures of the most beautiful places on earth for ideas before hand all it takes is time and effort. :D

You should use PNG format. The quality of jpg can be deceiving.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
