I know someone (1) who met someone (2) who has an aquaintance (3) who was once was friends with a guy (4) who hung out with this dude (5) who knows YOU! (6) We should hang out sometime...

Discuss. True/False?

Obviously no point unless Coon edits the OP into something more comprehensible.

He's referencing the idea that everyone on the planet may be connected through introduction by six degrees of separation or less.

Not sure how that is worth a topic though, unless we are going to attempt to figure out the degrees of separation between any two of us, which is obviously impossible due to any number of limitations imposed by reality.

I think the point he's making that every person can be connected to another person, who in turn can be once repeated, again and again (within 5 repeats) (I heard six the first time I heard it) be linked to any single human being on the face of the planet.

I really am not sure if it's true or false. It's impossible to verify, but within all chances it seems pretty likely. I mean five relations seems like so little, but with our ability to travel it could go anywhere..

Too bad you all didn't get it immediately ;o

edit: rereading I realized it was 6 he was claiming. Woops

He's inquiring if it's true that any one of us can be connected by six degrees.

I don't know what else of benefit can really be added to this thread.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
