I realized I don't even know this: What was the difference between SEN v4.0 and SEN v4.1?

Hmm... I never even thought about it.

It doesn't matter, they are both better than v5.0.

People often refer to it as v4, but it actually was v4.1.

IUNNO the difference.

I always assumed v4:v5beta::v4.1:v5. I don't know if that's true or not.

Even v3 was better than v5 :P

No, v4 and v4.1 were both used versions for public releases.

I remember when I first joined SEN there was the random tip or something, and it disappeared at one point. I don't think I joined at v3.

I remember that from a time I randomly visited the site, before I joined. I had always figured I was just thinking of those quotes from sclegacy.com

No, there were quotes on SEN too. I've seen screenshots and archives of it. BRING BACK THE QUOTES, MOOSIE!

That, I don't remember. And I like it like that. Sounds ugly. GAH. This wasn't even within a millisecond. I waited for 10 seconds before clicking post :(.

v4.0 had a different banner, and the tip boxes at the portal were different. IT HAD DA HYDRALISK. Also, 4 still had the OP SeN monitor box at top right, 4.1 didn't.

I dont believe this was the difference between 4.0 and 4.1, but I do remember that when I first joined SEN in may 2004, SEN had blue, black, and white colors. I thought it looked really cool and space-ish.

I remember both versions pretty well. As far as I know of, the top part is different (How the links were setup) and the portal page looked different.

www.archive.org can help you. I think. Maybe. Who wants v4 back raise your hands!

*gerrard raises his hand, but he is unsure*

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
