I really don't want to go in depth but a women was curious where her sperm which was used to conceive her baby came from. Apparently this led in one way or another to find out that 150 offspring were farmed from this man. And so this got me thinking; Genghis Khan was such a prolific lover it is said that 5 percent of all people are descendants of him. But of course the bloodline was mixed with so many other people problems of inbreeding would obviously not show. So when is it considered incest?... if you know that your family even if its separated by generations. Or does incest require you know have a direct family connection. Or maybe its not considered incest if your 4 generations apart (time the genes no longer cause inbreeding)

I guess there is incest from a social/cultural viewpoint and incest from a purely empirical viewpoint. There are sort of unwritten rules and cultural taboos that sort of dictate what is and is not incest, and there is also more solid rules dictated by law, which of course, varies from country to country. It varies a lot really, depending on the culture, though incest is a taboo which is practically universal across all cultures.
From an empirical standpoint, well, we all originated from a single life source, so we are all relatives, with varying degrees of distance. Why is X distance considered incest and Y distance considered normal? Well I think it has something to do with inbreeding resulting in poor survivability. And of course, natural selection weeds this out overtime.
As for me personally, I cringe at the thought of sexual relations with my cousins, hell, even my second cousins. If it is by law though, and there is no actual biological closeness, I should be able to not care, but somehow, even that feels weird to me. I actually had a second cousin hit on me once... I joked about it afterward but really it is somewhat unsettling. This is just my subjective feelings though, objectively; I think people can have incestuous relations as long as they want, as long as it is consensual.

Well, according to either Catholicism or evolutionary theory, we all originate from the same place, so we're all technically related. Depends how much weight you want to give either of those explanations.
I'd consider it incest if you can track your relation to another person on a family tree, regardless of how many degrees of separation there are.
