The ultimate tool to get a computer back on it's feet after the operating system is installed. Try it out - it's great.

*as far as I know, it's Windows only. To everybody else - sorry!

I notice a lot of people complaining about writing a lengthy post only to have it get accidentally erased. If this sounds like you, get this form recovery plug-in right away:

Lazarus for Firefox
Lazarus for Chrome

It's more useful than you'd think.
Wouldn't there be a small security issue there because if you can recover text from forms, wouldn't you be able to recover passwords from forms?

You ever try to copy/paste a password?

Soluto - Anti-frustration software.

Soluto is a legitimate program aimed at improving user experience; the program itself is ironically heavy on resources when it actually runs (>10MB RAM), but you can always close it after you are finished if all you are interested in is decreasing boot time and optimizing your browsers.

^ Shaved off 13 seconds, but soluto itself takes 3 seconds to boot, giving a net boot time reduction of 10 seconds. (This is after I had manually cleaned out my startup programs a few days ago). For people who have computers that aren't as new and have lots of things installed, their experienced improvement would most likely be significantly higher.

I'm loving that program. I only shaved off a net time of 2 seconds, but meh =P

I order you to forgive yourself!

I saved more than 1 minute. It looks very interesting so far.

Would you mind screenshotting that? I'd like to get a bunch of boot time reduction comparisons in for different people and different setups.

Is this screenshot good enough?

A picture with the whole graphic would have been better, IMO. :) Also curious as to what apps took up the most amount of time in your system.

Lord of the Locker Room

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Does anyone have some good free Video Editing programs?

Also, the swiss knife link doesn't work anymore ;(

My bootup already only takes 45 seconds, SSD for the win I guess. When I take out all of the programs that is reasonable to take out (Delaying them, mostly), it shaves of 1 second. Since Soluto adds 2 seconds itself, I'm better off without it.

VLMC (May crash a few times, but you should like it.)
Blender (Using the video sequencer, you should be able to get any result needed. Added bonus of having node compositing.)
Lightworks (Used for real movie production, but it may be a little complicated.)

(Just to name a few.)

I was wondering, is there any way to rotate a video?

My friend recorded something vertically, as if he was taking a picture... and now I need to edit the video and make it upright again.

In blender, there are multiple ways of doing that. Thought I'm not sure how your output will look like since you will probably want to rescale it to fit the height... This would be one of the ways of doing it:

To import your clip, you have to do ['shift' + 'A'] and to add the modifier to the video, you have to do ['shift' + 'A'] and select it from the 'Effect Strip'. (Make sure you are not putting it on top of the audio, it won't let you.)
