I checked the availability of my desired domain on the co.cc website, and it says it's available, but it says a one year domain registration is $6. I thought these were supposed to be free?

You shouldn't even worry about domain name at this point. Try webs.com. They are the most reliable free web hosting site but they limited their bandwidth and file space a year ago so don't expect to actually upload huge files on their. the other problem it has is that you can't use FTP or PHP or anything beyond html and css and I think java script. But at least it's reliable. Their was another free web site host I used to know that let use used PHP and mySQL and such... but I can't remember at the moment.

Ok, I'm going through webs.com terms of service, and it mentions payments. Yet the homepage says that the service is free. I is confused.

I barely understand what the terms of service mean >_<. How am I supposed to know what violates copyright laws, for instance?

It appears that due to Section 31, a majority of the terms of service survives even if the agreement is terminated. I'm not sure about signing this...

You don't have to pay. I'm sure you misread it. You would have to pay for features like a domain name or extra space and stuff you won't need if you're just trying to learn. Do yourself the favor and go ahead with it. Most of it is pretty much you can't use their free hosting to post illegal content or content that doesn't belong to you. Even then They don't go around checking through every site that's hosted through them so you could get away with it anyway. They just have that up there as a warning. Even if you did put something you shouldn't put up the worse thing that will happen is that they'll take down your free account. It doesn't ask you for a credit card or a sort of bank account or anything like that. If they don't have that information then you can't be billed for anything.

It's just warning they use but hardly ever exercise but have in place just in case you try to do something ridiculous.

Relax bro

Woah

Quote from Jesusfreak
the second I check it's availability, some bot will report it to someone else that will immediately buy up the domain and try to sell it at an inflated price.
I've never heard of this happening, so I wouldn't worry about that aspect of it.

I have a unlimited hosting package from a paid host so If your still looking for a webhost,I can set you up to use my hosting plan for your site, I can help you set up with most forums/cms and such, and you won't have any stupid limits. Although you will have to have a subdomain url off my site, Unless you own your own url that is.

I can't delete my messages. No matter how many I delete, the number of messages inside doesn't change.

This has been going on for months.

EDIT: Ok, I got the account and tried typing some stuff into the site...

And OMFG, after typing up the description to the site for two hours, it deletes it all and I can't figure out how to make it come back. WTF!!!

You probably forgot to name the file or something

There is no file, you just type stuff into the page. It said it was autosaving my drafts...

Apparently there's some problem with webs.com and Opera. I downloaded Firefox and it appears to work fine now.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
