Creating videos for music upload?

^ Essentially, I want a quick way to obtain a video like the above, given a still image and an audio source. Assigning the image as the video track in Vegas seemed to be the straightforward way to do this, until I actually started rendering the video: Vegas 10 reported that it would take over 20 minutes for it to encode a 3 minute song.

This is unacceptable; the video produced is essentially only a single frame with an audio track accompanying it. This should mean that rendering should occur relatively quickly and painlessly since the only real computational load is resampling the lossless source and encoding it as 320kbps audio. However, that does not seem to be the case, due to the excessive time taken to render the project; I deduced that Vegas must be re-rendering the video every frame as well.

Searching for nearly half an hour gave me no real answers; Vegas does not seem to have an option to skip video render and only put down one key frame. How should I bypass this and obtain videos suitable for Youtube upload from my music, with a render process that actually takes a reasonable amount of time? How do you guys do it?

google mp3 to youtube or something like that. I've done it once or twice in the past. You basically get an .exe file that lets you pick an audio file and a jpeg and mashes them together for uploading to youtube.

might even be possible through your browser - ie: you give it the two directories (files) and it'll download the combined 'video' file for you.

http://www.mp32flv.com/ <-- that was what I used in the past but it no longer existors.

320kbps will get downsampled on youtube, just so you are aware.

wuuuut how did you pull this off? A 15 minute Coffee Hour with still frames doesn't take that long... what are you encoding to? What CPU do you have?

Vegas is not known for its speed so, yeah. I haven't figured out how to do that yet personally. I just appear to have a much faster setup. If you're using Vegas 10, definitely encode to x264 or h264 if they are available. It won't take advantage of your CPU fully, though. Vegas uses maybe 10% of my cpu at the best of times.

Also double-check your project settings and make sure you aren't running any nature of effects on the image.

That's strange; I distinctly remember seeing videos that have 320 kbps audio quality on youtube; when I asked around people said to just upload with 320kbps and it will stay. Maybe I should encode as an flv and youtube will just skip the processing part?

My CPU is some ancient dual-code AMD 64x Athlon 3800+; I'm still using a prebuilt at the moment from like 2006.

(I'm not running any effects on the image.)

I think the highest youtube will go to is 196 or 256 (I can't remember, I got conflicting info about that now..). You can check by using Jdownloader to rip them (maybe WebM might go higher?). However, it's probably better to upload as 320 regardless because youtube does a re-encode regardless. Lower quality encoding to lower quality again will probably sound even worse. I don't think encoding as FLV will dodge the re-processing... they encode to AAC audio I believe. I usually do max quality AAC encodes anyways just because they are smaller. This won't help your issue though.

The video sounds fine regardless.

Yeah, that processor might struggle a bit... but I think that it should be avoidable having to wait so long anyways.

One thing you could try to do is axe the video FPS in the project settings.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

Last I checked, highest youtube audio quality is 192kbps. They may have changed it recently but I doubt it.
