Cent a lot of terms are extremely subjective. For instance over at TL everyone is disagreeing on what it means to be a Pro SC2 player. Thing is is that the actual definition of professional doesn't suit the way we all use it for the SC2 scene, so yeah. You can't really blanket it with "stupid people need definitions".

Whenever I want a laugh I take a pass through SD. It's almost as good as some of the TL Girl blogs.

Stupid people need definitions. Professionals are paid to do something. End of discussion. This is likewise true in basically any serious discussion I've ever been in: the only people who need clarification are the people who don't understand the intricacies of the conversation to begin with.

Right, because your opinion overrules everyone elses'.

It's neither "mine" nor an "opinion". Words have definitions, that is the meaning of professional in the context of competition.

But then we have people like Zany who manipulate definitions in order to support his arguments, good times. SD is quite the spectacle sometimes, that's why I'll always belong to the Games forum!

You all could be smart like me and stay the fuck away from SD and LD as they are in fact a biased waste of time and pointless arguments only strung together to extend ones ego further than already was.

That way troll threads dont have to be made in Null, and further the cause of SEN going down a proverbial toilet into the god knows where aftermath of being flushed several times because all the shit on here wont fit in one go.

I should clarify my previous as people who need things defined- definitions are important. You're welcome to check any dictionary you'd like as to the meaning of professional in competition, here's a few:


1.) taking part for money in an activity (as sport) that others do for pleasure
2.) following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain
3.) describes someone who does a job that people usually do as a hobby
4.) participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateurs
5.) Engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime
6.) earning one's living from an activity, such as a sport, not normally thought of as an occupation

It's really not ambiguous, but I'm sure even something like that would never be conceded. That's half the problem with the SD forum here, I don't think I've seen anyone except myself ever acknowledge when good points are made by the opposition. Among SD forums I've used, it's among if not the worst of the bunch.

Another big problem with SD. No one has their eyes open. Metaphorically speaking.

I actually don't, I'd just rather not let something like that stand without rebuttal.
