Not like I'd be able to fix anything myself, anyway. :devlin:

The constant mysql errors seem to be the major issue now, but no one can figure out why they occur. Perhaps he means that?

The 2006's? With SEN's traffic I can't see even shitty code causing them.. unless there's something really bad somewhere. I would tend to blame the server.

I'm sure we can fix whatever problems there are, even if it includes moving to a new server.

Woah

That requires IP to cooperate, which is why I don't think it will happen (at least not for a long while).

I just remember the last time IP showed up he said he talked to the hosts and they said there were some server addressing issues that were massively and needlessly increasing the load on our server. Then SEN was blindingly fast for a week or so, then it stopped again.

What problems o_o

http://www.staredit.net/topic/2177/ :awesome:

But some quick-'n'-dirty things that you can do are:
  • Make signatures not resize when they are under 600x150 (as opposed to 400x150).
  • Enable Karma.
  • Make a 5-mineral version of magic boxes (with the cost to play/payoff quantities at 25% of what they are currently)
  • Fix the raffle as per the suggestion in this post. Look at the raffle winners list. It's not a forum game anymore; it's just a "give payne more minerals because he's the only one buying tickets" scheme since it generates minerals every time it resets.

Longer-term stuff:
  • Possibly consider using jQuery to make a replacement for the current SEN image viewer (something similar to Sankaku's would be nice to have).
  • Fix search (oh wait :|)
  • Fix clans
  • WYSIWYG editing in WordPress's style.

Symmetry -- Man I wish we had this tech back in the day when people played ums lmao
[2026-7-16. : 6:28 am]
NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
[2026-7-16. : 6:26 am]
NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor
[2026-7-16. : 2:28 am]
Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.
[2026-7-15. : 4:10 am]
Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
[2026-7-15. : 2:19 am]
Symmetry -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
