On the 1v1 Steppes of War map, theres a statistics at top left that keep updating in real-time. Can someone tell me how he does this?

He'll probably use dialogs and triggers. Basically, triggers detect the statistics (e.g. APM, unit counter, etc.) and the dialog displays the information. There's information in the wiki about dialogs, and the trigger stuff won't be hard to work out yourself.
