Maybe I'm just in a phase, but I feel as though games aren't worth it anymore, I'm starting to see that playing games accomplishes nothing overall, and that I could be out with friends instead. Even StarCraft, which I see as a competitive experience that helps with intellectual development (anybody I know who is good at the game also seems to be smart) isn't enough for me anymore. Anyone ever felt this? Thoughts?
Also, I don't mean to be the pessimistic kid who cries in a corner because life isn't worth it, but a feeling like this after playing games for 12 years perplexes me.
Nah its cool bro. Actually I stopped playing WoW even though I have a two month gamecard for it. I just lost interest...and I found other hobbies to be more constructive and interesting. I still play pokemon, but I think that's because I don't deal with people there (and my pokebros love me and always will! They nuzzle :3 ) and the worst part about WoW was trying to work your schedule with others' schedule when I didn't like them in the first place. But other games still peek my interest. I guess just try something new. New hobbies, new games..
Aww, he's growin' up No but seriously, this is a good thing. Gaming can ruin your life, if you're finding it pointless you've reached a stage of enlightenment that few on this forum ever will.
Red classic.
"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
Gaming is just something to do when you are bored and have spare time that you do not wish to accomplish anything within.
It is a pastime, just like spending time with your friends or family. Not to sound bleak, but will, "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun."
Closest thing to a useful function gaming serves is to sharpen your brain in certain ways or strengthen social ties with others. Maybe there's a rare case of research value or some such, as with disease studies using WoW or whatever. Or even education value, for the few games that people actually play that do that.
Otherwise yeah, it's all just masturbatory activities otherwise.
It is not your fault brother. Call of grenade:Modern Grenade, Iron sights of war, Brown and Bloom:Origins, and the like are killing my and your experiences. We need more indie devs ;_;.

Agreed, I'd love to see some roguelikes remade into AAA games though too (Dwarf Fortress with decent graphics and a plausible interface )
Why not be out with friends .. playing more games? That's what I like to do.

I stopped "regularly" playing games many years ago. My last big clutch was diablo 2. WoW ate a fair bit of time but that was out of literally nothing else to do with my life, not that I enjoyed it.
Life isn't worth it.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Song was incidentally in my playlist. Felt appropriate.
