Master has given Dobby a doctorate! Dobby is free!

Much as I hate to admit it....Raitaki is.........right. However, everyone uses SCMDraft, which can be downloaded here, and is far more powerful than StarEdit, with little needless user-unfriendliness..

I failed to complete my entry for the 2009 contest but I could try again for this one with a whole new map. Put me down with 'Eternal Death Cage' as the map name please and here's a complimentary wip shot (be cool if everyone had one for the first page or something)

Wouldn't advanced x-tra editor be better than staredit? it barely crashes as much as staredit and file doesnt corrupt every 20 times you press save. sadly it doesn't work for windows 7

None.

The fact that they seperate features into modes is confusing enough already.

SCMDraft is by far the best editor. X-tra editor is not recommended.

With SC2 out? Never, most likely.

I will give this mapping challenge a shot this time, by myself. My map's name shall be "The Wind of Death" or something similar if I decide to change it for some reason. It will be about a legendary sword imbued with the power of a wind strong enough to bring swift death, which will be sought out by adventurers (both good and evil).

Once I get my Windows XP notebook setup (Currently having several issues on Windows 7), I'll begin working on a map and post a topic about it once it reaches a certain level of maturity.

SCMdraft does corrupt way more than Xtra editor, but it can do way more stuff, so I still use it.

I'm in on this one.

(I will never understand SCII's map editor) :(

If I made a map with 6 players and revolved it around 6 player experience. How would it get judged?
Can't start until I know. :S

Probably the same way the other maps will be judged. Since there aren't six judges, they'll just find some other players to meet the map's minimum requirements.

What kind of RPG requires six players? I'm intrigued.

I'm not EXACTLY sure, but I was thinking about a big teamwork map, or a 3v3 RPG.... However, I would not want it to be like those DBZ maps where you train forever then fight each other. More complex story by far, actions change the story, you chose, team-up even if against each other, go rogue... A lot of thought in progress :P
The map won't have a single spot left untouched.

Mine can only be 1 player.

And opens the door to awesome EUDs like mouse position and key press detection.

I'm in. I'm doing it currently alone.

"Heroes of Liberty"

BTW, what's this pot and minerals all about? Maybe I'm stupid, by i didn't find any information about this stuff.

edit: Oh, and I couldn't find the results of the RPG Contest 2009... there's an empty winner list in the main topic (in a spoiler)... I don't get it

You need to have at least 20 in order to give them to someone else. :hurr:

If you look at your profile, you'll see a number that represents minerals. Each time you post in one of the SC/SC2 forums, you get minerals for contributing. We're making a pot using minerals and the winner of the contest gets all the minerals.

And what about the contest 2009 ?

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
[2026-7-16. : 6:26 am]
NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.
[2026-7-15. : 4:10 am]
Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
