moving and attacking?

alright, so i want to make a bomber unit for my mod thats actually a bomber. I want it to move over it's target and drop bombs. Now doing this means it doesnt stop over the targer, it drops them while moving.

Now the only units that i know of that can move and shoot are tank and intercepter. Tank has a turret, and intercepter i have no idea why it can, and nothings diferent in iscript.

Is there anyway to do this?

Interceptor uses AI action "Move&Attack" in DatEdit. On any unit except for scarab and interceptor, the unit dies on attack immediately.

Try adding "Move x" in the attack iscript. It will make the unit move towards its target while attacking. If you get it right, it SHOULD fly over every time it attacks (I think).

Just try tinkering with the move command in attack animations and see what you get. (Give it a halt distance so it will fly past the target and have to move back towards it)

Actualy, I've tried using the move opcode in attack iscripts a long time ago. Doesn't work.
Can't remember if it crashed, or just ignored them, though...

How about you just make a bomber unit with no attack, and mount a turret with like 0-1 range that's underneath the plane so that they can't see it. Then give the turret tower guard and attack AI, and whenever it flies over an enemy target it'll drop weaponry on it.

Nah...Every Terran unit has been successfully given a turret. Its just the subunit entry on the advanced tag. Make sure you have the needed .lo? file under "Special" (images.dat) on the base unit.

sounds really hard to me :/ harder then making cmd icons and changing pallets.

(I hope maplantis will come back soon because it owns for modding.)

Lol. "Modlantis" . Also, when the base unit is ordered to move, the turret cannot attack. They both have to share the same order.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
