I'm tryin' to create a log of some sort. The default output for text is subtitle area, and the text is huge, bulky and ugly. I came across this trigger:
Dialog - Set the size and position of the subtitle panel to match (Last created dialog)
But it seem to have no use. Creating a dialog, and refering this to it has no effect at all! Anyone aware of how I fix this problem, or use it correctly -- or how I can do it another way, create an area (Dialog?) Where I can post text into. I could just make a dialog and define the text item inside I guess.. hmm but then I don't have that "Scrolling" effect (From normal chat or logs).. Yuck.. Any clues?
None.
Are you trying to force chat text to be displayed elsewhere?
I don't understand what you're trying to do.
Well, both yes and no: Yes, in this I was trying to move the chat text to somewhere else.. I guess that did not work. So my question is what the best way to make a log is.. Creating a dialog and adding /Editing text init? My ultimate goal is to create a dialog with story describtion inside.
None.
Well, I don't really know anything about dialogs, but if what you want is to provide tidbits of story description, an alternative is to use tips/hints like what Blizzard did in the campaign.
I.e. a little icon appears in the bottom right, and if the player presses F12 or something for the Help menu, they can find the story tidbits there.
However, that isn't a really good idea if you're going to have lots of story descriptions all over your map.
No, no indeed tips wont work. I just want to create a dialog or somethin where I can put in text messages

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
I'm not quite sure which outputs will be saved in the chat log. I guess transmissions. At least you could use that.
Payne I tok a look at it, and despite it works, it's very buggy, etc. the text some times extend out of the box if you use capital letters, the scroll bugs, the text appear for a second in normal output, then is removed, but it's obviously visiable and the code is insanely long.. But yes, it does work but nowhere near what I was trying to do. I'll look into transmissions now I guess.

You could try using debug messages; they output to the bottom left of the screen using a pretty small font. You can set an icon and stuff. (Just search for "debug" in the Action selection menu.) I don't think the messages will be logged, but you could try them out and see if they might fit the glove (since transmissions might be a bit too obstructive).
