So I thought I'd bring this game to you guys even though I have yet to fully explore it. I've been playing against the AI's in an older version ( http://db.tigsource.com/games/a-new-zero ) and I have to say this has some serious potential as a fun multiplayer game.

You can download it here
http://www.crypticsea.com/index.html

Anyways the game is based On pretty much sieging the opponents capital with bombs and missiles. The latest version with the new weapons and vechicles allow for a longer and more complicated game. First (if your the type to pull your own weight) you start off the game choosing between A Cargo ship or a Cargo plane (because you don't have enough money to afford much of anything else this early in the game). These vehicles are used for trading with neighboring neutral islands so that your nation can receive even more, faster, payment buy "buying low and selling high". Of course the opposite teams have the option of commandeering gunboats or other offensive ships to shoot down your cargo vehicles with bullets or suicidal rams. Whatever you feel like.

Also, this isn't an RTS where you send a couple of ships to do this or that. Every vehicles is manned by a player so you have to navigate your own ship to other islands to try while avoiding flak fire while shooting back in dogfights, or sneaking through the ocean with long range missile ships to deal heavy damage to your enemies buildings.

What I love besides the WW(#) feeling is the little physics that have in this low res game. Bullets stick onto everything. So if your fighter plane gets hit on the wing your plane will slow down and lean towards the weight of the ball. Alternatively you can lose whole pieces of your lego-esque vehicle and lose control and spend the last few moments you have steering the ship so that you can at least kamikaze or launch that last bomb before you crash and burn.

tl;dr it's cute.

The very first link I posted has screen shots of the game (older version but the only thing it's missing is the buildings)

So try out the first link first and play some basic games with the AI. Get used to the controls (Aerial vehicles have a slightly steep learning curve if you've never played any sort of flight simulator). Then when you think you got it try the newest version and try playing with all the islands/tradan stuff.

It's probably not going to happen but it would be nice if a bunch of SEN people played a game together. :C

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
