We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

And what if nobody breaks into your house?

People are always up to no good, I trust my 12 gauge and my dog rather than the 'good' intentions of people and the police. I don't live in a great neighborhood anyway.

Then I'm glad I live in an area where it's safe to get a cat over a war dog as a pet.

Seriously it's scary thinking about that there's places in the civilized world where you have to look for your well being yourself... O.o

At any point in time anyone could kill you for no reason and you are completely powerless to stop them, unless you find a way to defend yourself. Relying on others is not safe. It's stupidity.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Relying on others is an intrinsic part of civilization.

Without it, we would still be hunter gatherers with dogs as pets (who, by the way, rely on you).

You can rely on people you know. Be prepared to self-defensively kill anyone you don't. :P

Misanthropy FTW.

I worded it badly because I just woke up. :P
I meant where you have to fear for your well-being and take appropriate measures. I mean it's really a strange thought to have to get a dog to feel somewhat safe. I can't really imagine that, especially since I don't have pets at all.

Who the fuck wants a cat when you have a Boerboel or a Rottweiler that's going to beat the crap out of anyone that breaks into your house?

There's a difference between a pet and a guard. I say get a cat. Then get a cybernetically enhanced war-machine as a guard.

Y'know... or the other way around.

I see no difference between a pet and a guard when one animal can fulfill both requirements.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
