I love the new layout guys, I really do. Don't get me wrong; it's beautiful. Butttttt, what in the eff is up with this site's lag? Like honestly, ever since the new SEN, it takes me 2 minutes to log-in. Is this something that can be fixed soon?

Here's my main point on all of this (it's more than just a personal annoyance):
-If the purpose of the new 'layout' was to attract a bigger audience for SC2- the major site lag is going to send people away faster than any flashy layout would bring people in.

Just my thoughts.

I'd also like for a skin to be made that's low on images, like VERY LOW, as it's chewing up my internet cap and we're already at the limit now :(

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

WTF are you doing if you use more than 500 MB a day? One online video takes up more bandwidth than a year of SEN use.

I experience no lag.

I use dial up or a phone to access SEN and I experience no lag.

I actually had a log in problem in the old SEN too. I got around it by clicking log in and after a few seconds I clicked on forum index. I stopped having to do that when I clicked on the keep me signed in button though.

EDIT: Still have the problem but I'm always signed in so it doesn't affect me anymore

Relatively ancient and inactive

A few people are complaining about slow login time, so there's probably not lag but a crappy coding there.

When there are over 5000 members, there's bound to be some lag when the sql search is done.

Perhaps we need to do some cleaning. :sly:

Or alphabetize the database and do a smarter search, but I don't care =p.

You should! There are 2298 members who haven't been active since December 31 2008.

... Really? A search of five thousand can have that much of an effect? Two minutes?

I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally doubt it. Plus, I never had this problem, and if it took a significant amount of time I don't see why that would fluctuate; probably another problem somewhere.

42 searches per second isn't that slow.

This. Check for all the members who have been inactive for over three months and delete their entries. Simple.

3 months is a bit harsh, maybe 1 year.

How about a one year cleaning semi-annually?

Hrrm. Maybe it searches based on ID, and it's quick for me because I have a low ID? That would make sense, actually.

Still, I don't recall having this problem on v4 or even hear about it ever before on another system. I think there are ways to work around it.

The sword and the faith

I do think we need to remove accounts that have little to no posts and have been inactive. I'm sure Moose, Devourer, or Jacob can come up with an algorithm, generate a list, and we can go from there. Even though this is something to my knowledge SEN has never done, we leave accounts there forever, I think once we start going to accounts that haven't been used since v5 started, it'd be much more likely said user wasn't coming back.

Hash fucking table.

Legacy code is probably the cause here. I haven't logged in for ages though, so :P.

haha for sure. in some ways it's even more exciting because you can play EUD maps on regular battle.net, don't need to convince someone to download your mod to play with you. what did you do?
